Two Fawns

gary tompkins December 14, 2013

These two fawns kept wrestling and running around and finally stopped to rest long enough for me to capture them.

There's just enough motion blur around the ears and face to show they are still goofing around and I really like the composition and the pastel colors in the background. And of course, who doesn't think fawns are adorable?

Even so, this picture is cropped quite a bit because of a fence on the left and without at least a little more context I couldn't deem it print worthy.

Playing grown-up

gary tompkins December 2, 2013

I really like this image. Shot as part of the "Magical Morning" series this photo is heavily cropped. I normally like to capture the surrounding terrain for context which I did here but it didn't work. After cropping in to what you see here, adding a sepia tone, and vignetting, I think this picture is much more interesting.

I particularly like how the focus is located where the two sets of antlers meet with just enough motion blur to let us know this was an action shot.
